Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

For parents and carers of younger children

Discuss with your child how to be safe using the following modes of transport:

You could also have a conversation about:

  • safe travel routes
  • alternative arrangements for when unexpected things happen
  • what to do in wet weather.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

  • The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
  • The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.

Kiss and drop usage (AM and PM)

  • Kiss and Drop is a NO PARKING area during designated times with a maximum stopping time of 2 minutes. Penalties and fines apply.
  • Drivers should REMAIN IN their vehicles at ALL TIMES.
  • All children MUST ONLY enter and exit from the curb side of the car. No child is to exit from or enter the car from the road side. It is unsafe to do so.
  • If you are using Kiss and Drop ensure your children can exit the car quickly on their own and they have their belongings close at hand to enable a fast and easy exit from the car.
  • Move entirely into and to the extreme end of the bay where possible when entering the area. This will enable all bays to be consistently used, assisting with faster flow of traffic.
  • Please make sure the hand brake is applied when the car is stationary.
  • Once you have joined the Kiss and Drop queue please do NOT exit and take over other cars. This is an unsafe practice. Young children are unpredictable.
  • If the line in Satterly ave is full, please do NOT queue on Nimbrin up towards the Comenarra, instead proceed down Nimbrin and queue up to turn right into Satterly Ave.
  • At collection times, if your child is not ready when called, please do not hold up the queue, instead move on and join the end of the queue.

We appreciate your assistance in keeping our children safe during busy school drop off and pick up times.
